Trees.

The Society maintains a database of all the trees in our area and regular audits are carried out to ensure that any changes are notified.

A Holm oak was planted to commemorate a long standing member of the Committee and trees were planted in containers in the area of the Biggleswade Link, adjacent to the cinema in St George’s Place.

Canterbury City Council honoured its promise to replace the diseased chestnut trees with pin oaks but that two of these suffered badly in the 2009 drought.

Local enthusiasm counts – if you want trees on your street, ask Kent Highways for them and be prepared to water them yourself.

The roots of the OHDS were planted by a group of local residents who were concerned about the trees in the Shrubbery. Our Society has grown many branches since then but our concern for our trees still remains.
